UNM McKinnon Center for Management Receives AIA New Mexico 2021 elevAte Honor Award
The UNM McKinnon Center for Management has been recognized with an AIA New Mexico 2021 elevAte Honor Award for Distinguished Architecture, the only honor award issued this year.
The jury praised the building’s sophistication in plan and section, its role in framing a new campus gateway, its navigation of a large program around a common “living room,” and its mix of active and quiet spaces. The living room creates a social hub that allows for circulation fluidity and change. One juror described the building as “a thoughtful, modern expression of rationality and classicism not seen very much these days, and the architecture is a very appropriate gateway to higher learning.”
FBT Architects teamed with BORA Architects out of Portland, OR to design this signature building–the new front door of the business school. This building is designed to transition Anderson students seamlessly into the professional world and embody the Anderson School mission: New Mexico Business Lives Here.
