FBT Architects is excited to announce that Henry Reitwiesner has joined their Colorado Springs team as a Project Executive after retiring from Academy District 20. Henry has been invested in educational architecture for over 25 years, with a depth of experience in facilities’ management, construction supervision and contract administration.

After more than two decades employed by local public schools districts and Pikes Peak Community College, Henry returns to his roots working as an architect. In joining FBT, he hopes to give back to the community and have a positive impact on the built environment. Henry is dedicated to environmental stewardship and contributing to sustainable design and operations. Having lived the realities of education schedules and needs, he is mindful of the impact construction and design details have on students, faculty and staff. “I find great joy working with educators and community members,” says Henry, “and I look forward to continuing to serve the community as a go-to resource and mentor.”

Henry most recently served as the Executive Director for Building Fund and earlier as Supervisor for Construction and Environmental Services for Academy District 20, supporting 25,700 students across 39 schools (district and charter) for a total of 3.1 million square feet on over 600 acres. As the Architect of Record for the 2016 Bond program, he oversaw $230 million in improvements for District schools. Prior to 2016 he also administered environmental services, energy management and maintenance. Before joining District 20, Henry provided construction management, planning and supervision of facilities, for Pikes Peak Community College and Falcon School District 49.

“FBT has been lucky to work with Henry over the past several years on our projects with Academy School District 20,” says Sanjay Engineer, FBT’s Vice President, “he was an incredible partner as an owner and his expertise adds tremendous value to FBT’s projects.” Henry’s high-level perspective on strategic planning, project design and budget management benefits both FBT and their clients.
