Bayfield Parks, Open Space, Trails & Recreation Master Plan
Groundwork Studio worked closely with the Town of Bayfield, Colorado to develop a 10-year comprehensive plan for their parks, open space, trails and recreational facilities. Through intensive exploration of existing facilities, programming, community engagement, financial evaluation, GIS mapping and data synthesis, this project provides an invaluable recreation roadmap for a community where outdoor recreation is a vital cultural and economic driver.
This project represents our team’s distinct ability to plan with feet on the ground, coupling technical expertise in facility evaluation, cost estimating and maintenance planning. This facilitates joyful community engagement and relevant response. Our collaboration with project stakeholders, including the School District and local businesses, has developed a positive and productive working relationship between our team and the Bayfield community. Our experience with this project allows us to be particularly sensitive to the community’s needs as the Master Plan projects are implemented.
For towns like Bayfield, Parks and Recreation amenities represent a powerful economic development vehicle and the proposed park and river corridor proposed in this project will assist the Town in maximizing the financial benefit these resources can provide. Strengthening these partnerships and identifying new connections helps minimize duplication of effort while building new collaborations
