CNM Community College JS & S Building

Albuquerque, NM

This LEED Gold project involved the renovation of CNM’s existing S Building and the renovation and addition to Jeannette Stromberg (JS) Hall to support the consolidation of the Health Wellness & Public Safety programs. The two buildings are interconnected via a pedestrian bridge and located on CNM’s Main Albuquerque Campus.

Previously spread across multiple campuses, consolidating the Health Wellness & Public Safety programs into these two buildings supported the department’s goals to increase efficiencies, reduce duplication and create a sense of community for the department. A new south entry was added to the JS Building strengthening its interconnection with the main campus and recently developed quadrangle. Mechanical systems were upgraded throughout to improve energy performance. The building’s two atriums were designed to capture more usable space for CNM with intermittent levels and interconnecting open stairs for improved departmental communications. Ongoing communications and an intricate phasing plan allowed departments to maintain full department operations during the project.
