Pikes Peak State College Allied Health Renovation
The Allied Health Renovation at Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) centralized previously scattered health programs into a single, state-of-the-art facility—the Center for Healthcare Education and Simulation (CHES)—and expanded the campus dental program with a new oral health training center. Delivered in three phases, the project enhances hands-on learning, supports program growth and improves community healthcare access.
- Phase I focused on infrastructure and Nursing. It introduced fully equipped patient rooms and a nursing ward to simulate real-world scenarios. Specialized recording, control and debrief rooms support student learning and performance review. Additional classrooms, study areas and support spaces foster collaborative teaching and learning.
- Phase II added programs in EMS, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy, Surgical Technology and Physical Therapy. The CHES now includes simulation labs, a pharmacy technician suite and surgical suites, all designed to mimic clinical environments.
- Phase III renovated a separate building to house the new Dental Oral Health Career Center—the first live patient hygiene clinic in Colorado Springs. The facility features 20 operatory stations, a radiology suite, a high-tech materials lab, high-fidelity simulation spaces, classrooms, offices, student commons and break rooms.
Throughout all phases, the team engaged users through site walks, mock-ups and collaborative planning sessions to ensure functionality and consensus. The result is a cohesive, future-ready environment that advances allied health education in the community.
