Roosevelt General Hospital Emergency Department Expansion

Portales, NM

Roosevelt General Hospital is a 24-bed acute care general hospital providing both inpatient and outpatient services to southeastern Portales, Roosevelt County and the surrounding rural communities in New Mexico. This expansion increased capacity of the emergency department services by adding five private patient rooms, two triage rooms, bariatric treatment, an airborne infection isolation room, two trauma rooms, a decontamination room, secure holding and clinical support spaces.

The addition involved site development including roads, parking, utilities and helipad relocation. As a highly active part of Roosevelt General Hospital, the project required careful medical equipment coordination including trauma room equipment and bariatric accommodations.

The Roosevelt General Hospital Emergency Department Expansion supported the well-being of staff, patients and visitors with a layout that was easy to navigate, ample natural light and warm finishes. It also created a sense of safety and comfort by allowing staff good visual supervision across the department.
