Red Rock Elementary School

Gallup, NM

The existing Red Rock Elementary School is a 41,400 sf building serving 350 students in grades K-5. FBT is replacing the aging school with a new 62,855 sf sf building located within 20 feet of the existing building. Careful construction phasing was critical to maintaining operations on the active campus.

The design focused on creating spaces that inspire students and elevate their wellbeing through vibrant, playful design elements and opportunities for interaction. Bright colors, flexible furniture and interactive learning centers create an environment that stimulates curiosity, creativity and wonder. Natural light is maximized in classrooms and throughout the building to improve productivity and student and teacher wellbeing. The classroom spaces are adaptable with flexible furniture options to support different activities, projects and collaboration between students. Breakaway spaces are incorporated for focused collaboration and education.

The new building is set to be completed in January 2025, with site and landscape following in early Fall.
